A former junior varsity basketball player, Isabella Bacino is a college basketball fan and enjoys filling out brackets for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) March Madness tournament.
The first round of the 2018 March Madness tournament doesn't begin until March 15, but teams are already beginning to separate themselves from the pack to earn higher rankings in the 64-team contest. Through Jan. 11, one of the best teams in the country was the Villanova Wildcats, which had posted a 15-1 record and defeated three top-25 ranked teams. Not only was Villanova ranked No. 1 in the CBS Sports Top 25, it also was the top team as chosen by the Associated Press.
However, the NCAA Men's Basketball RPI list had Duke as the top-ranked team in the country, with Villanova and Virginia ranked second and third respectively. The USA Today Coaches Poll listed Michigan State as the top-ranked team ahead of Duke and Villanova. Other teams among the top five of the aforementioned polls include Xavier, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Clemson, and Texas Tech.
